Configuring: Delay

Select whether the delay will be row based or timestamp based, which fields will be delayed, and the period by which they will be delayed. The delay can be a default delay, or customized specifically for each field. The resulting dataset will contain the selected fields with the delayed values and updated timestamps, where applicable.

Worked example: Delay

Steps to configure

  1. Delay period: Select the delay type and set the default delay. Decide whether to interpolate values or not.

  2. Field selection: Select the fields to be delayed.

  3. Field periods: Enter the customized delays for each selected field.

  4. Execute: A new dataset will be created, containing only the selected fields, delayed timestamps and corresponding values.

Step 1: Delay period

Select the delay calculation type and enter the default delay period in rows or seconds.

  • Row based calculations will apply the delays down the configured number of rows, the timestamps will be ignored.

  • Time based calculations will assign a new timestamp to apply the delay.

  • Selecting to interpolate  the values will be calculated between consecutive timestamps, instead of holding the value at the previous point until the following point is reached.

  • The interpolated values can increase, decrease or remain constant, depending on the relation of the two original points.

  • Interpolation does not occur in row based delays.

  • The timestamp calculation type will be disabled if the dataset contains no timestamp field.

  • Set the default delay in either number of rows or seconds. This value can be customized for each field during later configuration.

  • Default:

    • row based will be the selected calculation type

    • the first timestamp field will be selected

    • the period will be 0

  • Minimum configuration: period should be > than 0

 Step 2: Field selection

Select the fields that you want to delay.

  • Only integer, double and/or string fields are listed.

  • Default: all fields are selected.

  • Minimum configuration: at least one field should be selected.

Step 3: Field periods

Enter the individual delays for each of your selected fields. This will be either in seconds or in row numbers, depending on the initial delay calculations configured.

  • If you have a lot of selected fields, they will be displayed over multiple pages.

  • The delay periods should be > 0, and should be an integer, if row based calculation is selected.

  • Default: the default delay is entered for each field.

Step 4: Execute

A new dataset will be created, containing only the selected fields, with the delayed timestamps and corresponding values.
